Or more likely make it harder for competition in the field, and let them run the show.

They want regulation because it will stifle competition.

I think we leave it the wild West for now, let everyone use copyrighted works to train their models, etc.

AI is infrastructure. We don't know what is going to look like in a decade (unless we regulate the big tech companies which with cement their power). The small start ups can't abide by or afford most of the proposed legislation. The big guys can. That's why they want it.
