With the recent influx my instance is barely able to keep up. I am talking about loading times of 10 seconds and more for thread comments which are near instantaneous for smaller servers. Search is technically unusable.

So how is your experience with that? Have you had to migrate your account because of that?

Rock solid, I've had no issues since moving away from a larger instance. I had to clear my cache and cookies once it was upgraded but other than that, I'm very happy

So you had also performance issues on a large instance? I thought at this point the performance of Mastodon and its bigger instances are scaling cleanly enough to not be such a pain.

Yeah I was initially on lemmy.world and had lots of issues posting comments, voting, submitting, etc. Both in browser and using a few different apps.

Uhm, this is primarily about Mastodon, that's why I posted it here. Lemmy.world is fixed and runs near perfect now. There had been CPU spikes all over the place in 18.1 pre-releases, but it was fixed.

Ah right, apologies, I didn't read the post correctly. I use Calckey over Mastodon so I couldn't really advise

I'm on Mastodon.world. It has been excellent, and the admin team even created some stats pages to show uptime. It's pretty stellar, in my humble opinion.

Other than a hiccup from a bug the other day where nothing I was posting was actually being posted, I've had no issues with the instance I use at all. It takes a bit to pull new content when I am the first and only person on it to have subscribed to something not already crossfeeding with it tho. But I think that would be the same on any instance as it's just the way the whole federation thing works. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you can't see it, I'm on yiffit.net.

Apparently my instance had some issue over several weeks which has been fixed some time ago. Now everything is in an acceptable range again.
