Scary. I hope they find her soon, and she's fine.
I know that this article points out it's in "bear country" but in a lot of these cases it's more likely that the person simply got lost or fell and got injured somewhere off-trail. Especially considering it's the middle of summer and there is currently plenty of easily accessible food for bears out there.
People are constantly dying on trails within 30 minutes of Vancouver, and the further from civilization you get, the more difficult it is to find you.
But is it just me or does the Garmin watch record show that she stopped recording at the road?
Contrary to the weird ideas out there, bears do not hunt you. Bear attacks are very rare.
oh I grew up in that area (well, just south in the US part, but basically the same geography/environment) - there's a lot of bear activity & you have to know what to do when you see a bear. a tourist out in the woods alone? likely mauled by now
