Gobelinus Regius Bearded Vulture (Gypaetus barbatus) -- known for taking live animals (including hares, ibex, and goats) and dropping their prey onto rocks as a killing method.


Also known as the bone breaker or bone cracker.


Interesting video

Some of the script is crap, but it does have some good stuff, like the fact that the bearded vulture wears makeup.

Apparently vultures don't have real voice boxes so they can only hiss and grunt. Is that true?

Uuuuuugh, I dunno. Lemme check.

OK, here's a Youtube video of vulture sounds. It's mostly gross eating sounds (they're eating), until you get to this bit. Pretty badass.

Here's what they sound like when they're trying to be sexy: video. Really. That's not a joke link.

I'm not a vulture expert, btw. I subbed to every community that sounded mildly cool to me and I've been posting as much as I can to keep them up and running till the niche crowds find them.
