Yes. There's a Private Instance
checkbox in the Settings.
Doesn't the private instance setting make it so no one can browser the posts, users and communities on the instance unless they are logged in?
Yes - in the same way that Truth Social (Trump's platform) is a Mastodon instance that doesn't federate with anything else
I was just about to come here and say the same thing. I just found this out today so it's all shiny in my brain.
Yeah it's an option in the initial setup.
