seems like a good way to grow the community as long as you aren't spamming it.
Music is music. As long as you aren't spamming your own stuff every hour or day I don't see why anyone could have a problem with it.
I've been looking for communities for people who make music. Have you found anything?
I've been searching for the same thing without too much luck so far. The Guitar community seems to be pretty active so far, but that's not my primary interest. There's a Drums community that I hope will take off. r/drums was one of my favorite reddit subs along with r/wearethemusicmakers. Hoping to see something similar here.
Oh yeah, I forgot about drums. I haven't searched for that yet.
Instead of trying each community one at a time I decided to make a list of ones to try at some point when things calm down.
I'm on vlemmy and noticed that some of the searches I made last night are starting to pop up in the results today so things are definitely working.
You're probably not interested in all of these but there is a wearethemusicmakers community in this list.
I used https://browse.feddit.de/ btw.

I've been doing something similar to index as much as I can of the music communities, but it seems to have been buried with recent postings (a good thing in my opinion). You can find my index of music communities I've found and have been updating here:
Please escape this mentality, share your music.
Think about all the music you hear throughout your day and life, in grocery stores, in tv and movies, the radio, blasting from car stereos, podcasts, youtube. You did not choose that, but I doubt you complain about it.
Do not let celebrities be the only people empowered to share music.
Share you music, don't even ask permission.
Spin that shit DJ!

Seeing as the whole thread has 0 self promotional posts, and everyone says fine to share (how refreshing!), heres my post punk indie rock stuff:

A synthy-er album #3 is in the works. Thanks for your time!
No, I hate how most places don't allow promotions.
I'm happy to see some music being shared here! My band just released an album recently, some midwest emo/alt rock stuff! https://open.spotify.com/album/0IlDVbWeSXL62mOBgCVjyO?si=9eajTbomQh6cLQT9l_UsPA
