I have several, but whenever someone mentions guilty pleasures, Event Horizon is one of the first ones that pop into my head. While no masterpiece the film is incredibly well shot and made an impression on me when I was younger. And it's a lot of fun in a certain kind of way.

I don't feel guilty about loving Event Horizon, that movie is a sci-fi horror classic.

Now Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, that's a guilty pleasure for me. Terrible main characters, terrible chemistry, script is something to be desired, but man I will watch the shit out of that film any chance I get.

I'm going to put that on my list.

Godzilla (1998) - it's dumb but i love it.

In no particular order

  • Goonies
  • Hunt for Red October

  • Breakfast Club
  • Star Trek 2 - Wrath of Khan
  • Star Trek 4 - Voyage Home
  • Explorers (1985)
  • Forest Gump
  • O, Brother, Where Art Thou?
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Stand By Me (1985)
  • The Last Starfighter (1984)
  • Blade Runner

A list of excellent films. I do question the guilt level on most of them though.

less a guilty list, more a list of movies that I'll stop and watch if they're on TV. Add Fifth Element to that list as well.

Event horizon is so good. Very few other films combine sci fi and horror so well.

If we’re defining guilty pleasures as “no masterpiece but I could watch them any time, any reason”:

Groundhog Day Short circuit Final destination series The village Signs Resident evil 1 The burbs Predator 1/2 Constantine Face/Off The goonies Sideways Equilibrium Revenge of the Sith

Honestly there’s hundreds more.

The Burbs!!! Yes! That is a hard one to find these days.

Some awesome choices here. Equilibrium... I need to watch that one again.

French Kiss (1995). Kevin Kline is amazing in this film.

I just rewatched Fired Up! Last night. Also far from a masterpiece even as far as teen comedies go, this one just has the perfect tone and sarcasm for me.

Very definitely Roadhouse.

Armageddon is fun. Despite it's horrible and ridiculous science and engineering impossibilities.

I'll watch heroic bloodshed movies every day of the week. Coolie Killer? Yes, please.

No guilt, though. Shit's dope.

Bunraku. Its like Sin City, but the movie set is a giant paper popup book. I like the somewhat serious yet cartoony undertone and always love to see Woody Harrelson or Ron Perlman on the screen. I've never seen a film quite like it.

I haven't heard of this one. Sounds very interesting. I'll add it to my list.
