As a Gator fan I find this to be an interesting outcome - in all liklihood Kitna had a good legal team and they were able to argue that others in his home had access to the Internet account so they couldn't definitively prove his guilt.

His father is John Kitna so I'm sure they had good lawyers.

Five felonies reduced to 2 misdemeanors?! Overzealous prosecution or slap on the wrist? I genuinely do not know and would like to.

I have no real knowledge of the case and IANAL but I’m guessing some combo of first time offender, good legal team (kids father was a long-time backup NFL QB), and probably hard to prove direct possession/responsibility for the materials.
