Hallo ! Wie geht's ?

I've posted some days ago on reddit's r/dresden that I've posted my tourist postal cards for france on the wrong mailbox, on the red one of the modern post and not the yellow one of the Deutsch post, and I was asking if it will still arrived or not.

So to make the track of the post; just to say : my postal cards are arrived in France ! So to conclude, tourists, if you post your letter to the wrong mailbox, don't worry, modern post is conscientious and will correctly dispatch your letters ! (But be careful anyway !) Thanks for that !

Hallo Nachbar!

Hello neighbor! I am well, thank you. I hope you're doing mighty fine yourself! :)

I think you were (just a liiiitle bit) lucky. An employee (of the carrier with the red mailboxes) was diligent. Odds are pretty good that the postcard will be delivered most of the time. With letters and parcels, it sometimes happens that they're returned to sender.

But yeah, nowadays, most mail – no matter if it's slightly the wrong zip code, a misspelled last name or city, or even if you use the wrong mailbox – will be re-sorted manually and delivered correctly. ;)

Mir es gut auch danke ! :)

(I will continue in English , my Deutsch is too bad to make clear complete sentences)

Yeah it was just postcards so maybe I was a little bit lucky with that but this is what people was saying on reddit , that normally, often, mails arrived. But in anyway better off being careful. Thanks for your answer ;)

Kein Problem!

No need for Deutsch, as long as we can understand each other some way =) The thing with postcards is, I believe, returning them to sender could mean more work and maybe cost the delivery company some money they won't get back, so the postal services try their best to simply get them where they're supposed to go.

Next time you know what to do! ^^

and just having a bag to throw stuff into that's been thrown into the wrong container - and emptying that once a week into the right container is probably the cheapest and easiest way to get rid of that stuff. :D
