Exactly what the title says. I'm not a native English speaker, so almost everything regarding auto-correct and word suggestions is turned off, except for grammar and speeling checks, that is set to underline. Underlining works in every other app, except Jerboa. Why is that?

That's strange. I've just tried and I can confirm it's the same for me.

I'm also on android and for most apps this is something controlled in the system settings and I'm pretty sure is managed by the OS and not individual apps.

I wonder what jerboa is doing differently..

I also notice that the formatting buttons and the second half of the text box go off screen, underneath the keyboard as I type.

I wonder if there's a repo or an issue tracker where we can better report these things?

Yeah, I know, that's why it puzzled me as well, cuz I know it's a system wide setting, not per app.

Maybe it has something to do with the prefered language setting in your profile? Cuz it's set to Undetermined because Lemmy advises to have it set to undetermined. You will only get feeds from that language you chose if you set it to any language, except undetermined.

Yeah, also noticed this, but this is not such a big deal, you swipe up a bit, everything returns to normal. Though, yeah, it would be nice if they stayed right above the keyboard. And the cursor to stay above the formatting buttons as you type and the text transfers to a new row, cuz currently, it goes below the on screen keyboard, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Github repo, but I haven't had time to report this. I was just wondering if this is only happening ony phone or are others having the same issues as well.

I'm having a problem where if I use backspace to delete some characters of a word, it will seemingly at random remove spaces between previous words.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yes! I have the same problem, but weirdly enough it's only with messagease, and gboard is fine, wonder if some keyboards handle backspacing differently

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Don't have that problem, but the copy/paste is terrible. You tap to paste on one spot, it somehow jumps to another location and the pasted text gets pasted in a different location... and that is just so frustrating, cuz there's no undo when you long tap again ๐Ÿ˜ค.

Maybe post this in [email protected] or in the Jerboa GitHub repo?

I'll post on lemmy.ml first, then if this really is a bug or missing feature, make an issue on GH.

That is cool, I didn't even know you could do that. I get my words spelled checked by just typing and getting suggestions. I am assuming you use Android, is this something you set up in the settings of the phone? I can't find it (I have a Samsung), I can only find autocorrect with spell suggestions

Yeah, I use Android. Those are Gboard specific settings (the on screen keyboard I use, it's the default keyboard for Android). You'd have to go in Additional settings --> Languages and Input, and there, you can choose your on screen keyboard and it's related settings.

And actually, it's set to underline and suggest corrections, but only if you tap the underlined word. This suits me just nice, since I use the regular latin keyboard (I just hate switching keyboards and layouts) for local communication as well, so it's easier if everything just goes underlined if I'm not typing in English, even if there are errors, most locals will understand what I'm trying to say, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚.

That explains it! I use Microsofts swiftkey keyboard and I couldn't find any settings like that on it either. But maybe I should try gboard out. Sounds pretty neat! :D

Try it, works pretty good for me ๐Ÿ‘.
