Sorry if this was recently asked, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed having to rebuild my sub list lol

Currently I'd say the /c/'s that indexes the growing numbers of communities across the different instances:

/c/[email protected] and /c/[email protected]

Ooh, thanks for the latter, I'm already subbed to the first one. Very useful!

Shameless plug, if you're interested in participating in some laid-back, old school forum games: [email protected]

My main subscriptions at this time (and I've just started so the list is bound to grow): [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

I suggest looking through the "All" tab of the communities list. And just look if you see any sub that you think you would like. You can always unjoin (:

Just FYI, the "All" tab only lists the communities that the instance you are on is subscribed to. You can get a larger searchable list from https://browse.feddit.de/ although it only seems to be updated once a day or so.

If you find something that interests you on the feddit search page, you can manually search for and add that community to the instance your account is on.

Just copy the link to the community from the search page and paste it into the search box on your instance. You may also need to change the top dropdown on the Search page from Communities to All, depending on if someone else on your instance has previously searched for it.

You should then see the community listed in the results as something like Community Name - X subscribers. Click that link, then click subscribe on the top right box on the next page.

Here's some meta lemmy community lists that may be useful: https://lemmyverse.net/communities https://browse.feddit.de/

Check out https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/61827. It's not a list of community suggestions, but it will help you get your sea legs for discovering your own communities.
