What’s the closest place to Austin that still has an old western style street? Something like Round Rock’s main street but more classic looking. I know I pass through a couple of towns that have that when driving to Dallas but I’m not sure which one is the closest or if there’s other closer places in other directions. My brother and his wife are visiting next year (from Asia, never been to the US), so I want to show them Texas specific things/places when they drop by.

Salado maybe? But try Street View on any little town nearby. Fredericksburg, Wimberly, Kerrvill.

Dear Cap Metro, I love that you offered free rides on New years Eve. Here's where you stumbled though. Not enough train cars, or frequency of trains going north after midnight. Not sure if anyone was stranded after that last train ride, but I was on the next to last train ride and it was at capacity with people not able to get on. I was in that spot on the train before, at capacity and we couldn't get on. If you are going to advertise and get people to use your service like that, please make sure you have the capacity to handle it. The crush of people trying to get on the train I managed to board was something I have never experienced, and was a little scary. I thought we had a line going, but when the doors opened people just made a dash for it, and it was dangerous. There shouldn't have been this situation in the first place, but there we were. I know the people at cap metro won't ever see this, but if you do have them on social media, pass this along for me. Thanks.
