As long as I can remember, LibreOffice Writer has not handled fonts with more than 4 variants well. E.g. I have a font that has the standard Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, but it also has 4 of the same but "Extended" (so more space between characters). LibreOffice does not display the Extended variants in the WYSIWYG editor at all, only showing the regular widths.
I think I looked up at one point that this has been raised as an issue, but never fixed. Is that just because it's not a priority for the devs, or maybe something else?
I guess it isn't a priority for the devs. They probably have a lot on their plate already, and there's a lot that they don't implement, but they try. (DISCLAIMER: I am not a programmer and am not affiliated with LibreOffice.)
