TL;DR: They have a solution to the problem. A mix of vaccinating some of the trees(Because vaccines reduce yield) and spacing the trees apart.(So the bugs don't spread)
Wonder why the vaccine reduces yield.

Lol that's funny, but actually probably has to do with redirecting nutrients/resources away from producing fruit
Only a guess, but maybe the stress of the introduced vaccine causes the plant to spend it's resources on an immune response?
