An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭
Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

Filipinos are giving way too much malice to a completely innocuous response and finding an excuse for outrage again. Ang ayos ayos ng sagot ng BGC kinukulayan ng ibang meaning.
BGC is simply promoting Banksy's exhibit which will be held on MET, a museum that existed long before that business district was established. Whether Banksy represents anti-capitalism or street art is irrelevant. That doesn't mean you can just waltz in on private property and start painting away.
Now, it remains to be seen if Banksy sanctioned the use of his works by MET. If that's the case, you should aim your hate towards the museum (either for using his works without permission or for "gentrifying" his art) not BGC.
PS: And idk about you but Banksy is no longer the pure political activist he once was. He viciously defends his IP nowadays and his designs are even used with Bearbricks (collectibles ng mga millionaire rich kids) or a part of art auctions kahit prank pa yan. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that because in the end we live in a consumerist, capitalistic society and concessions must be made, which is why I don't agree with losing your shit over a museum curating your artwork. In the end, people get to see and appreciate your work and perhaps sympathize with your cause, which I believe was the point?
