This attack is lamer than when India tossed some bombs on an abandoned shed in 2019 to provoke Pakistan. It accomplished nothing in terms of physical damage, and it backfired internationally when the PAF shot down and captured their pilot.

Israel will do just the same and suddenly Iran is going to be looking really stupid for not actually doing anything.

And no, it won't escalate either because Iran will magically sing a different tune when they're faced with actual fighting just like every other arab nation has. They don't have the capability nor the resolve to force Israel into a disadvantageous position.
