I was initially super excited for this game. I wanted to explore Hogwarts and the grounds around it. The little towns and hamlets sounded like it was going to be so cool.
In the beginning, exploring Hogwarts was so cool and exciting. Seeing things from the movies and books was awesome and other things that weren’t mentioned added some excitement. But after a while, it becomes kinda stale. There isn’t much to do in your common room, so that’s just completely wasted space. In addition, the school itself seems sorta empty to me. There are so many places where there are literally no students. It all seemed to robotic to me. It didn’t have the charm. The room of requirement is really cool though, and seeing what other people have done with it is amazing even if I don’t have the patience or talent to do it myself.
As for the hamlets and villages around Hogwarts, I found them to be more or less the same with a few exceptions. I personally didn’t find the story to be engaging either. The flying in this has one of the worst mechanics I’ve ever played. Why can’t I look around while flying!?
The combat is kinda fun, but I also found that I just ended up using the same old spells. Sometimes I would use different spells for the bonuses, but if I didn’t care about that, I had no real motivation. If an enemy used protego, I could pretty must just ignore him until I could use some ancient magic.
Those are just my thoughts. Overall, I think it had so much potential, but it just kinda missed the mark on most things.
Fair points, I’d say it’s a good base to expand upon for a sequel.
For sure. After playing Diablo I kinda wish it were like that in some ways. There’s the campaign and side missions you can do on your own, but you also see other players while walking around and you can team up to do the quests or events that pop up randomly. Having that pseudo social aspect would’ve been kinda fun.
