Who knew the director of the movie being riffed in a derivative work had copyright claim to the derivative work.

An mst3k episode probably wouldn't hold up under fair use. It uses a substantial amount of the original work, doesn't really transform it into something else, and does negatively impact Tjardus Greidanus' ability to profit from the movie if he chose to sell it
