Improve The News is a free news aggregator and news analysis site developed by a group of researchers at MIT and elsewhere to improve your access to trustworthy news. Many website algorithms push you (for ad revenue) into a filter bubble by reinforcing the narratives you impulse-click on. By understanding other people’s arguments, you understand why they do what they do – and have a better chance of persuading them. **What's establishment bias?** The establishment view is what all big parties and powers agree on, which varies between countries and over time. For example, the old establishment view that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote was successfully challenged. ITN makes it easy for you to compare the perspectives of the pro-establishment mainstream media with those of smaller establishment-critical news outlets that you won’t find in most other news aggregators. This Magazine/Community is not affiliated with Improve The News and is an unofficial repository of the information posted there.

  • Former Vice Pres. Mike Pence on Friday announced that he will not endorse Donald Trump, alleging that his former running mate and the president he served with is pursuing a platform "at odds with the conservative agenda" they governed on for four years. FOX News (LR: 4 CP: 4)
  • Pence argued that Trump seems to have walked away from conservative principles, pointing to the presumptive GOP nominee's views on abortion and national debt and an alleged softening of a tough-on-China stance. Wall Street Journal
  • On Sunday, he said he "respect[s] the right of Republican voters" to vote for Trump in November. However, Pence evaded questions on whether he would follow suit. Guardian (LR: 2 CP: 5)
  • After ending his presidential bid in October, Pence withheld an endorsement in the 2024 Republican primary. However, he said he'll "never vote" for Pres. Joe Biden or back a third-party candidate. CNN
  • Trump clinched the 2024 Republican presidential nomination last Tuesday, the same day Biden won the Democratic party's nomination. Business Insider (LR: 3 CP: 4)
  • Pence, who presided over the Jan. 6 vote certification, reportedly enraged Trump and many of his supporters for his refusal to return disputed electoral votes to the states. PJ Media (LR: 4 CP: 4)

Anti-Trump narrative:

  • Though several prominent Trump-skeptical Republicans have already endorsed the former president as if there were no alternative to him other than Joe Biden, Mike Pence has boldly offered a permission structure for Republicans whose endorsements are still up for grabs. There are mounting reasons not to back Trump — either for not being a real conservative or for being a threat to democracy.
WASHINGTON POST (LR: 2 CP: 5)

Pro-Trump narrative:

  • If Mike Pence had been a true Republican, as he claims to be, he would have endorsed Trump by now, as the former president has already clinched the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. This friendly fire from "Republican in Name Only" elites is the only thing that can prevent Trump from becoming the 47th president. Yet, even they know that another Biden term would threaten the very viability of the republic.
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Nerd narrative:

  • There's a 50% chance that Donald Trump will be elected to be US President in 2024, according to the Metaculus prediction community.

I also don’t think they had any goal besides get inside.

MY FUCKING ASS they didn't have any other goal...

Don't downplay this shit. They killed a police officer, a rioter was killed, and they clearly had a goal of killing government officials. Fucking miss me with that buuuulll shit...

Plan is more what I meant and I’m not downplaying shit. I watched all of Jan 6 live and have followed everything post the 6th that my mental health will allow.

Wanting to cause violence is barely a goal. A few members had a plan but could not execute shit because they had no real coordination. The main reason they even got as far as they did is because there’s a fuckton of fascists in the police force.

Wanting to cause violence, with the outcome of that violence being the death of cabinet members, is not something you should be defending. Yet here you are.

My link is just the TIP of the iceberg. If you watched the hearings on the Jan 6th event you'd know there were people planning on killing Nanci Pelosi, and others.

You are disgusting.

Bro, lmao, are you doing ok? You’re projecting so hard on to me. I think anyone who participated in Jan 6 should be, at a minimum, in jail.

All I am saying is that those fuckwads caught the car and had no idea, or at least the means, to actually execute a coup.
