To save you all a click and several paragraphs of useless text.

  1. Use a large pot.
  2. Fill the pot with cold water.
  3. Don’t skimp on the salt.
  4. Do not put oil in the pot.
  5. Wait until the water reaches a stable boil to add your pasta.
  6. Stir, stir, stir.
  7. Remove the lid.
  8. Keep time, and consistently test.
  9. Don’t pour all the pasta water down the drain. * Or do if you aren't making a sauce.
  10. Don’t rinse cooked pasta.

The lid of the pot. Keeping the pot covered makes the water boil quicker
