I haven't had Facebook in a few years but I'll admit there's still a few subreddits I'll check every now and then for news about things I follow because there just isn't enough activity in the communities here, and I'll absolutely suffer through Reddit's atrocious mobile site before I install the app.

Old.reddit.com and if you have an account, go into settings and opt out of the redesign.

Honestly, on mobile, the new design is somewhat more easy to navigate. Regardless, neither is good on mobile, though. But on desktop, I absolutely use old.reddit for the niche subreddits I still visit every now and again.

Yeah hard agree with this. Old reddit sucks on mobile unfortunately while new reddit sucks everywhere but is nonetheless slightly more usable on mobile (especially with ublock and a few other plugins). I am very hopeful we keep growing over here so the niche communities can start to get traction and I can stop going over there entirely.

New Reddit on mobile for me doesn’t show the same options as old. I have an account so I can curate content and block bots and users from view. On new Reddit, it only shows me report or save for alt options. I have to switch to old to see all the options. So irritating.

What is the best way to foster niche communities? Do we just need more users overall?

Yeah I think we just need more users. I mean a lot of my niche ones exist on here, which mean other users have already cared enough to start it up, but there's just not enough people to get them active.

Not just users, users who post.
