This article mentions a bunch of new names and I just can't bring myself to care. This franchise burnt all of my interest and good faith in it when tlou2 dropped.
At this point for me, only TLoU is canon and everything else is just fanfiction.
Edit: It's like the moment someone mentions TLoU2 a rocket goes off in the middle of the room. Why? All I said was I don't like the game and I'm not interested in a sequel. What did I start? lol
Oh god, are we gonna do this here, too?
Are people not allowed opinions on Lemmy?
Seems that way. Really unfortunate. Imagine being so upset about a game you have to run around and try and ruin it for everyone else.
Literally just said that I don't like it, and then was attacked for it. If my opinion offends you or "ruins it' for you, then block me. Easy. But honestly, if your opinion is so easily swayed by someone elses, then maybe you don't like it so much yourself. 🤷
I however am open to a discussion on the matter if people are done white knighting this game. Oh, and I won't downvote you for having a different opinion than me. 😉
I just shared my opinion, you're free to do the same. Or just downvote and move on.
I didn’t have any problems with the second game. So I’m curious what specifically made you hate it so much?
It's portrayals of the characters and the odd decisions they made. It felt like they butchered them just to carry out the message of violence begets violence when you had that all along in the first game. The way they framed the characters and story is similar in a way to the Netflix Witcher TV show. The characters all just act in a way that's contrary to how they'd already been set up. And I don't hate it, that's too strong a word for something that I'm just not interested in anymore. And you ask, why do you still talk about it. Because I love the original so much, it meant a lot to me, and to see what they did to Joel and Ellie, and to know what we could've had. Well, it all just feels like wasted potential. I would've much preferred if 2 in the series was just those flashbacks that we experienced throughout the 2 that we got instead. There's a compelling narrative there, and a gripping story about a man who lost his child only to raise a surrogate one instead. That to me would've hit much harder than what we ended up getting. And now I just can't care about this series anymore, because the characters that I once had are dead and butchered. Hence the "everything else is just fanfiction" bit. Guess you could say that I'm still pretty passionate about it haha 😅
Why?
Whyyy do I have an opinion? Your question is incredibly vague.
Am I not allowed to dislike something? I mean I get that it's a popular franchise, but people can have differing opinions.
