Sometimes it's enough to watch a friend or a youtuber play. My roommate once watched 40 minutes of a review for a super crappy movie to then say "well, I want to check if it's really as bad as I was just told" and proceed to watch the movie itself. After he watched it, he admitted that it was that bad
Well, it's a good thing he wanted to make up his own mind
Did he say he regretted it? You're making it out like it was a waste of time, but if that's what he wanted to do, why deride him for it?
I think he did say, but that was more than ten years ago, so he might also not. You're right about doing what one wants, I didn't try to stop him then, wouldn't do it now, too
