Why are people doing this, knowing people have died because of this?
Mental illness is my guess.
Edit - when I was growing up (not here) I knew some very bad kids and this would have been way, way outside their zone for vandalism or violence. That's why I don't think it's just random tiktok juvenile delinquency.
Some people are just pieces of shit. In fact, a lot of people are. The last 5 years should have shown you that, if nothing else.
We can’t keep using mental illness as an excuse for bad behaviour.
I'm not a doctor but I think reckless disregard for human life and property is a result of mental illness. I also do not think that in any exempts them from responsibility.
Whoever is doing this lives with other people probably and there's an excellent chance there are adults there who should be seeing signs of this and getting this person help.
Now, we all know they might also be people who are themselves not really model citizens.
To recap - not excusing this they need to be arrested and kept from harming anyone else asap.
Lot of parents don’t take into their own accountability of being a “normal human” let alone their children.
Case in point the Jennifer Crumbley case in Michigan about her son’s shooting spree at a school.
Ignorance and lack of education without discipline and structure equate to longstanding issues with much of what a persons adventure through life ends up being for their “environment”. All compounding throughout generational decline.
Agreed, I think 90% of what we see is generations passing on their own disfunction. Makes it a very, very difficult problem to solve at the societal level. Individuals have to make it happen in their own lives with the support of society. Experts argue about the abuse of these supports but I'd rather give kids a chance and lose some money to systemic abuse and misuse then take it away and see everyone worse off. Hard problem with no easy answers.
