Does the RiF app still work for anyone else so long as you're not logged in? (self.redditwasfun)

Hard to break old habits, I kept accidently opening the RiF app. And so long as I'm not logged in I can browse reddit. Is this the case for anyone else? And do we know why?

Same thing happened to me as well. It did ask me to log in again with a bit of a weird message. I am on the 'fuck Reddit' opinion so do want to move on as even if it is working now, It is only a matter of time before they force new Reddit on everyone.

What is confusing is how is this happening? RIF has his own servers and I would be sure RIF would point to the RIP servers to access any content. Reddit can't change my app to point to them direct if I understand it correct. I thought maybe RIF programmer sold his app to Reddit but that seems unlikely as Reddit has already stated they are not buying third party apps.

Edit. Really liking Connect for Lemmy. Very similar to RIP IMO.

Reddit incompetence I think. They'll probably block access soon I'm just surprised it's still working too.

I just can not understand how this would even work technically. Without the help of the original RIF programmer that is.

That being said, if Reddit is somehow doing this, it is only for short term so that they do not bleed so many people rapidly. Once all established, they will take it down app by app and eventually Old Reddit on PC continuing with their shitification.

But you can't even log in with RiF so it still doesn't make sense. I guess Reddit are just completely incompetent.
