If you do find yourself making the comparison then you should seek a therapist that has experience with ASD.

I just realized what community I'm in. I was just blindly browsing new, so please excuse my sudden invasion of this space. That's the second time this week I've gotten lost.

I still don't get the context. Though, I can guarantee that my colleagues were just taking a friendly jab at me, since we all play and enjoy computer games. :)

There is no relevant context outside of seeing people make the dehumanizing comparison.

Not true, the label 'NPC' as a derogatory phrase has its origins in Gamergate, the genesis of our current wave of online alt-right fuckery, the people using it on OP are likely part of that culture.
