Money could be a big part of it for sure. From what I read Anthem overruled D'Amore's decision to bring in Braun (back before he came back to WWE) due to (iirc) a negotiated $11million salary, which D'Amore wasn't pleased with being overruled on.

I'd have been less pleased with paying $11million for Braun fuckin' Stowman, personally.
