With regard to expensive paintings, sometimes the price is only about money laundering.

Hehe, indeed. There's plenty of banal shite being sold for millions. Either for vanity or more nefarious reasons.

I wish I could be an artist whose artwork was used for money laundering. I could cash in. Maybe if I paint pictures of apes.
