I’ve been using a vertical smoker for years. I always like to put a layer of foil down at the lowest layer to catch some drippings from my butts.

Now that I got this pellet smoker (pit boss) I don’t see an easy way to do that. Should I just say fuck it and go no foil? Should put foil down at the bottom near the heater?

It says it’s model number 11013. It’s half pellet and half charcoal.

There is a drip bucket that hangs under it. I assume that’ll catch it all but I’m just used to putting down foil to keep things a little cleaner.

Highly recommend the drip bucket liners. I’ve had raccoons raid my drip bucket when I didn’t clean it out soon enough and those liners make for easy cleanup.

As for the bottom of the smoker, you’ll end up with some grease that doesn’t make its way to the bucket, so every so often I take plastic putty knifes that you get for painting and scoop out any excess grease.

Yeah it came with one liner and I’ll pickup some more.

25lbs of pork going in tomorrow for an overnight smoke.
