Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

When I try to view images linked (e.g., from the meme community), Jeroba just reloads the main feed. Anyone else experience this, and is there a solution?

It's because you set it as the app to open lemmy links, and images are hosted by the lemmy domains. So when you tap it it tried to open the linked image in your browser, but your phone thinks the lemmy app is the browser it should launch. It should be smarter about handling links to things on lemmy.

Ah, I wondered if that might be the problem. Do you know if there's a fix?

I'm working on an image viewer to display images in-app, hopefully in a few days it'll be done.

That sounds great. After that gets implemented the app is already pretty good for an alpha

It's now done and merged, so it'll come in the next version whenever that is.

Sweet, thank you!

Not that I know of. But it looks like the increase in users is driving an increase in development speed in the git repo. So maybe it will be addressed before too long

I changed my open links behaviour to "ask every time" so I still have the choice to use Jerboa to open Lemmy links while being able to open images within the app in browser. It adds an extra tap into the process but it works for now.
