Seems that someone at Reddit decided to grant read access to RIF, this morning I opened the app just for kicks and it wouldn't load anything. Well I tried again after lunch (Europe CET time) and it could access the front page but I was logged out. Trying to login shows a different logon page and even with valid credentials gives out a 'Bad request' response.

That means they are not just feeling the heat, they are probably burning really bad.

Lemmy today and Lemmy a week ago are night and day! Content has already reached 2014 reddit levels of activity. Besides the different UI, I wouldn't know I left.

Lemmy on 12 June was extremely sparse. Highest upvoted posts maybe had 50 votes and "active" and "hot" showed posts from up to 7 days prior. Now it's so much better with the amount of activity.

I only joined about a week ago but I've noticed a big difference too. I regularly see threads with over 100 comments and that's plenty of engagement for me. Since this is an open platform there's no entity trying to hack our brains to maximize engagement and get you addicted, it can just be a healthy discussion for those who want it.

I was here then as well. I created a new community, created a post, it got a random upvote. Turns out that simply making a post meant I made the front page of lemmy.world!

Each day the fediverse has gotten almost twice as busy as it was the day before. I feel like within another two weeks I'm not even going to miss reddit at all LOL.

If you want something with a UI similar to Apollo as well, try wefwef, it looks just like the Apollo Reddit client but for lemmy instead. I’ve personally been using it since changing over to lemmy and it’s honestly so similar.
