Just want to mention that this issue is even worse for content from non-US markets.

There's a huge list of classics from where I live that are completely impossible to find and we depend on one privately owned platform to decide to buy the rights and make it available even if these productions received public financing and that's just when it's clear who owns the rights.

Even piracy isn't an option.

Yeah it's also worse for streaming outside US markets, especially if you prefer original English. Supposedly you can use VPN but that didn't work plus you need credit card.
