Does this count only for personal account reputation scores, or does this also count toward any sorting algos on the platform?
No, there is no connection between reputation points and sorting algorithms. It's just info in the profile.
I have to admit, I do like the two being separated.
"Likes" and votes about relevancy getting mixed up on Reddit was a legitimate problem over there.

Hey, okay, that explains it, was looking at my reputation to check and see if this was legit and couldn't get the numbers to match up. I'm not some crazy person counting up 100s of posts, I've only got like 6, pretty quick math.
