What is matrix?
It's a protocol for decentralised instant messaging. All info you need is here: https://matrix.org
That looks pretty cool. So it's basically a decentralised discord?
It's just a protocol for sending data, depending on a client it could be a decentralised Discord (Cinny looks and feels very similar to Discord), WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Guilded, Skype etc. Whilst most people use Matrix as alternative to Discord, you should know that it might be hard to get used to its flagship client, Element, because it doesn't resemble Discord much
Lol I don't use discord much but I'd love to ditch WhatsApp. I just know people won't use anything else
Yeah, convincing people to install a single app that would help you both stay in touch and preserve privacy is unbelievably hard
I have been trying to get more of my contacts on signal for ages but so far I have managed to get 2
Yeah. The majority of people don't give a fuck about their privacy lol. "I've got nothing to hide " isn't the point
Is Cinny web only?
There is a(n unnofficial?) flatpak app
