I personally love it! A few thoughts after 3 sessions:

  • AH LCG is a highly immersive experience! You choose a character, pick up a deck with skills, events, items, and start reading the well written lovecraftian horror story snippets.
  • The encounter deck, different characters, decks, slightly different events, scenarios (if you buy them) luck and your choose-your-own-adventure-decisions culminate in a high replayability.
  • It feels like a roguelite with permadeath activated. It’s hard, every decision matters, usually luck is not on your side and you are happy, if you get out of a situation not dead or insane. These are the ways your character could get eliminated afaik.
  • It ‘s playable solo with one or two characters (atm I prefer one). I can’t imagine bringing it to the table if you have guests over and want to have fun. I keep it for special evenings, when I want to get lost in a (non-digital) story.

According to my time logs, I've been playing for the Carcosa campaign for approx 2 days 10hrs over roughly 3 complete playthroughs and 1 ongoing.

I still kept getting surprises. Either with encounter and deck interactions, or from path resolutions I've missed.

And this is just for one campaign.
