Menopause

'Menopause isn't really that bad'...said no woman ever.

For those who are approaching or experiencing 'the change' (think reverse puberty), a time where hormone levels decline either through the aging process or by medical/surgical means.

Menopause and Perimenopause (the transitional time before Menopause) are unique to every person, and while there's no one-size fits all, we support each other on this roller coaster ride of wacked out hormones, absurd mood swings and random sweaty hot flashes.

Be kind. Be respectful. We are all in this together!

I went to my GP last week and she prescribed me a testosterone cream that has only been available here in Australia for a few months (according to her). I had a blood test and it showed that my levels were very low.

I haven't been to pick it up yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do for me. I have had zero libido for a long time now, but that's not what I got it for BUT it is one of the main reasons they prescribe it. I wanted to see if it helped my muscle weakness and overall mehness. I have CFS/ME and hormones play a huge role in how well I feel.

Has anyone else used testosterone and how did you find it?

PS - HRT is so freaking expensive, it makes me really angry that our pharmaceutical benefits scheme doesn't cover it and I am out of pocket hundreds of dollars a month.

I use the gel and it’s worked like a charm. My sex drive is back, and along with it my drive for everything else. Sex drive and everything drive seem to be the same thing, at least in myself.

Idk why docs fuss so much about the siDe EfFeCtS being unwanted. Oh no, my clitoris might become larger and I might find stimulation for my own sake more pleasurable! My voice might become more deep, then people might listen better and take me more seriously! The horrors!! (Those things haven’t happened, but I sincerely welcome them if they do. All I’ve had is one or two extra chin hairs to pluck. Whoopie-do, who GAF.)

lol that's it, the side effects seem pretty doable. How long do you think it was before you noticed an improvement in your sex drive?

Not long, probably about a month iirc
