Why would a semi-conductor make money pointless?
A room temperature super conductor, would revolutionize power generation, computation abilities, transportation, communication, space exploration,
There's only a few industries that would not be completely up ended by a room temperature super conductor. Mostly the humanities, maybe biologies and politics. Global warming will have been a blip on the extended history of Earth, we will be terraforming other solar bodies quickly because of the reduced cost to exit earths gravity wells, Voyager would only be the furthest space craft for another decade, if that.
There would be some people who try to stand in the way of progress, but if it's shown to be easily produced and scalable, we're going to be in a star Trek universe (other theoretical extra terrestrial species would also be able to create these technologies theoretically) within a generation, probably our generation if you're around my early middle age.
Money will be a nothing in a world of such technology.
All sounds very exciting but I'm firmly of the opinion the world is fucked and we're better off just being wiped out by nuclear war or a meteor.
