I’d love for it to be because consumers are wanting to be environmentally conscious about their choices but that’s not it. This is simply an extension of the lack of consistent wage increases for low to middle of middle class earners.

Fair point. This might be true for most, but I'd like to think people considers this more of an option now than in the past. Regardless of income.
