Hey everyone, just curious how you guys go about protecting your writing and ideas. I'm very much an amateur but would really like to start sharing my writing, short stories etc. But I'm not sure how you go about protecting yourself from your work getting stolen?

I think signing the file using a digital signature and a timestamp would help. That way you can prove ownership of text I guess?

  • so the keyword here is digital signatures
  • digital signatures use public private key cryptography to prove ownership of data
    • you need to hide your private key but publish your public key, so others can prove you own the document.
  • look up openssl signing for example
