“The researchers said the findings are alarming because they may reflect bottom-line incentives overshadowing patient care and safety.” Folks, that is the entire goal of the acquisition, to drive financial performance, not patient outcomes. What did they possibly expect would happen? That is the entire goal! This shit really needs to get sorted. Financial goals should never be the top priority in any healthcare provider setting.
