The Last of Us: Part II and Horizon Forbidden West each cost more than $200 million to develop based on new documents submitted as part of the ongoing Xbox Federal Trade Commission case.

These numbers are shocking. I know AAA games are very expensive but 200 million+ on a single title is very expensive. It's implied these are only development costs, so this excludes marketing costs.

It's reported that Cyberpunk estimated around $313 million, so these numbers don't seem so far off from the mark. That being said, it's ridiculous how much these games cost to make, like games have gotten too big, and the companies surrounding those games in particular. The people in the industry need to rethink "Triple A" titles imo, I mean it's no wonder why microtransactions seem to be pushed into everything and anything these days. Doesn't make me hate it any less.
