One study suggested that the reactors could produce more nuclear waste than current systems and that they "will use highly corrosive and pyrophoric fuels and coolants that, following irradiation, will become highly radioactive."

Why is this about nuclear and not solar thermal?

You can't turn the sun on. IIRC there was some research done that the US can run itself for 100 year off just the nuclear waste it already has. The radioactive material already exists, it's already decaying, and it will keep decaying so it might as well be used to make power.

because they mix the fuel into the salt
