I could use some help. I find my company making more and more changes that have a negative impact on the wellbeing of the tech workers such as myself.

The company has a union but it's not for the corporate workers. I would like to start a union for us techies. How can I achieve this? I've spoken with people I'm comfortable with about unionizing and have received favorable feedback. Who can I reach out to?

You're damn straight we do. We generate revenue, it's time we be given the respect we deserve instead of being treated like peons and pissants

I don't think I'm necessarily the person to do it, but I would happily pay dues to be in a union!

It's all good yo. I'm willing to risk my neck because at the end of the day I either lose my job because I organized or I lose my job because I refused to return to an office.

The world needs people willing to be brave and reckless just as much as it needs people willing to follow those crazy bastards

What I don't intuitively understand is how groups reach critical mass and collectively go all in on a vote to unionize. Some examples, like rail unions and people who do hard manual labor, I get, but how could an information worker's union be formed across industries, for example IT, dev, support, data science, etc. not necessarily directed at you specifically but It's something that comes to mind from time to time.

How would that be built? How would that work?

Surely, a general information worker strike would bring the world to a halt. Possibly a disasterous one.

Not that it's unwarranted or anything.

I don't know how it will be built either but I know I'm willing to take a step and I hope a union can help me figure out the next ones

I may too.
