I mean, does it, though? Latin America right now is more US friendly than it has been probably since the start of the Cold War.

This arrogant and imperialist attitude from US politicians is a prime example of why there are enduring and justified antipathies in Latin America, but it's not new, and it's not particularly strong (on either side) at the moment.

I'm not saying latin america has seized relations with US, just pointing out some of the reasons why China is growing its influence on the continent. Their friendly prices and big investments are much more appealing than empty US promises, as shown in the Summit of the Americas
