1. Follow the site-wide rules
- Instance-wide TOS: https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
- Lemmy code of conduct: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/code_of_conduct.html
2. Be civil
- Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
- Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
- Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
- Bigotry will not be tolerated.
- These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
- Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of
sudo
in Windows. - No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
4. No recent reposts
- Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

no adobe though
Well, if people decide to lock themselves into eco systems like the one Adobe provides... Not saying GIMP (for instance) has 1:1 feature parity or anything. Not at all. But to me, those are just tools to get work done. And I can use a slightly different tool just fine, even if it's a little rough around the edges.
But I'm a programmer and systems administrator, not a designer.
is there a decent premiere pro alternative on linux? I need a powerful video software to work on. Been thinking on building a second pc and might give linux a chance.
Davinci Resolve.
Good.
But seriously, I never used Adobe back when I still used Windows at home. How many people are professionel enough to actually need Photoshop?
u know adobe is a lot more than just photoshop right?
Same difference. Most people don't need any of those applications.
i care because i use some of them
If you're into pro video editing and animation, you have to switch software if on Linux. If that's too complicated, requires too much time or you can't get any plugins for the software you use, than yes, Linux is not for you.
But, let's face it, for your every day Joe, Linux is just fine.
Meeeh... depends, you can have some Adobe products on it with Wine.
I've never needed any of the Adobe stuff, so I'm good, thank you.
