1899 is another great show axed by Netflix in case you haven't heard. Sigh.
I'm not keen on watching S3 of From. There's slow burn (Dark is the pinnacle of it) and then there's wannabe like From that's simply poor writing and soap opera in disguise.
It's appalling how stupid they make the characters to create drama that no one cares about. There's absolutely zero need for that since the high story concept allows for so many interesting things to happen. The last episode of season 2... Ugh! 9.5 episodes of melodrama to build up for one stupid reveal?? Even a child can tell a story better than them!
Anyway sorry for digressing, just needed to vent. Other similar shows like From I've watched are Katla and Black Spot, none of which are at the same level as Dark of course, with weaker story concept than From but much better execution. I've also seen someone recommending Yellow Jacket.
I've read the Silo series and it's not bad, but I can't imagine it translating well into a show. There's just... a lot of talking and suspense in a silo.
I also have some frustrations regarding "From", a lot of episodes are drama filler, and that filler is definitely badly written. I admit there are scenes that I simply skipped when I could tell that nothing important would come out of them lmao. The idea behind the story is super interesting though, and that keeps me coming back. I'm really curious what this place is.
I think some moments are really well executed, the mystery in the first episodes, and when they built the radio tower and Jim heard that voice... First hope and later absolute terror! That's some writing! But yeah, a lot of it is ruined by pointless filler :/.
I love the intro, both visuals and the song. So climactic! And I come back for my favorite characters: Jade, Tabitha, Victor, Boyd. The rest is meh and some are downright terrible lmao.
The finale of this season gave me some hope for the next one, but the episodes in the middle were disappointing, I agree. We'll see!
