Community Guidelines
- Be constructive. As a community this is place for discussion, things you liked, things you didn't like, any everything in between. Low effort comments don't add to the discussion.
- Be civil. Disagreements happen. Don't attack others. Take a moment and reconsider before you post an inflammatory comment in all caps.
- No spam. Please don't post spam, trolling or other low effort content. If you're a human and you saw something interesting or had an interesting thought, you're probably fine.
- Memes are allowed. We're a small community, feel free to post memes or similar content. Funny things are good. If it becomes a problem we can discuss changing the rules.
In addition like any community we follow the Lemmy.World content policy rules. In short, don't attack people or groups.
Spoiler Guidelines
- Be mindful when posting spoilers or spoiler content.
- If you're making a post put "(Spoilers)" at the start of your post.
- If your post is an image mark it as NSFW.
- If you're making a comment use the Lemmy spoilers markdown.
When should something no longer be considered a spoiler? In general use your best judgement. If want something more specific,
- For films, wait until it's been released to streaming for at least a few weeks.
- For TV shows, consider the whole season as a spoiler until the last episode of the season has aired, then wait a few weeks.

Thanks for the suggestions! IMDB links for lazy people: The Endless, Resolution.
Man I keep forgetting it's those guys. Yes, The Endless and Resolution are amazing sci-fi. Another in a similar vein, albeit different creators, is Coherence. Best to go in blind on that one too.
Yes! I love movies like that. When it makes you think "How are the logistics behind this film's production even possible?"
Oh, not to that level. But thinking of stuff where I don't even know how they write something so complicated and keep it straight. 'Primer', the TV show 'Dark', many of Nolan's films to a lesser extent. But then even stuff like Doctor Strange, the crazy CGI they do is just mind blowing to me. Everything Everywhere comes to mind. I'm having trouble thinking of more, but I know there's been some lately that I had that feeling. Can't think of them off the top of my head at the moment.
Thanks, will check this out.
Oh Under The Skin is one of my favorites. It's a masterclass in uneasiness. I love so-called arthouse films. So much of what A24 is doing lately has been right up my alley. Everything Everywhere rose to my favorite of all time but I loved The Green Knight, Lamb, Men, all of Ari Asters movies. I'm really disappointed in the announcement they are moving to more mainstream, blockbuster toe fare.
Uh oh, disagreed on all 3 lol. Loved Enemy and Talk to me. Everything Everywhere hit me very personally, having an Asian immigrant mother. I can definitely see how people wouldn't connect to it, but so much of it felt made for me.
I don't understand comments like this. Yes, they're not perfect. Of course, not everything they do will be golden. No studio puts out 100% bangers all the time. I mean, no company at all does, with anything, nor anyone ever. Just strange, to me, to need to make a point of it, especially when talking about something subjective. Feels like being cynical for cynicism's sake. I still think, at least for me, they have more hits than misses.
