My own life is boring (which I like) so sorry for highjacking your thread with stuff I encountered that creeps me out even after years. Also some of these are fiction. Probably. I hope so.
I‘m a bad storyteller, so forgive me for not retelling them. But the stories of that search and rescue guy about the stairs in the woods (non-reddit link) were so creepy and well written that they deserve a mention here.
Then there was a thread about a guy who sometimes woke up in the middle of the night by some strange sounds downstairs. But everytime he went there, he couldn’t find anything. So he started recording himself going downstairs, went to the terrace door, still nothing, and returned to bed. The next day he posted the video on reddit (r/rbi?), wondering if he was going crazy. People started discussing lots of stuff they believed to see or hear in these videos, but one guy cranked up the brightness and slowed the video down. While the home owner passed the living room, you could see the silhouette of a person standing in a corner, hiding there, and the guy recording was clearly oblivious. I don‘t know how it ended or where to find this story, and that‘s a good thing.
Then, the Zelda scenes in Pet Cemetery that I watched when I was way too young. I still see her sometimes when I‘m alone in the darkness of my room. F childhood trauma. Don‘t let your children watch shit like that. They won‘t admit it, but they‘re scared. Also the bent neck lady in Haunting of Hill House. Awesome show.
Now I want to read horror stuff. Where can I find your favorite (preferably real) horror stories?
(Sorry, I know you asked for our personal stories.)
