I posted something similar before, but it did not gain too much traction, possibly due to time zones.

It would be cool to see a Lemmy online pen pal/chat pal thread. Tell us about yourself and your hobbies in comments! Iโ€™m a person in their 20s who likes world football, theoretical maths and physics, and FOSS stuff. I also like the outdoors and would love to share about outdoor adventures. Feel free to send me a message if youโ€™d like to talk!

I have no problem telling people I'm into video games (playstation and nintendo - mostly zelda right now), movies, and reading (lotr, stormlight). For some reason it feels like people shy away from saying they're into those things. Everyone knows you watch TV at night. No need to be coy about it. I'm also into soccer (playing and watching top 5 leagues) and music (playing guitar and piano).

Zelda is awesome.

Lotr and brando are awesome.

Arsenal are awesome.

Guitars are awesome.

Sounds good to me.

I always love meeting other Sanderson fans. I feel like it's a really tight knit community. I'm looking forward to the discussions that we will be able to have on Lemmy someday when more people join. Journey Before Destination!

Have you played the new Zelda game?

And your a fellow masochist (i.e. Arsenal fan)? How long have you supported them? Who's your favorite player?

The two communities on reddit were so lovely too. Absolutely hoping they come over here. I can never decide on which books I enjoy most but having listened to mistborn again while introducing my wife to the stories I think it has to be them. The world building is so special.

Yeah haven't stopped since it came out haha, the engine building physics stuff is so interesting. There's also a tonne to explore and stuff. I've still not finished the main quest line. Honestly it makes me feel like a kid discovering gaming again.

Odegaard for sure. I've always supported them, although that was easy as I started enjoying football when they were the invincibles. I was a glory hunter but for sure stuck by them. There's a good community on lemmy already over at gunners (lemmy.world) I think!! Who's your favourite?

I'm incredibly jealous. You got to see Arsenal in their prime. I didn't really start following them until 2008 or 2009. I was too young to pay attention to foreign leagues before that. But I am hoping they are on their way to a serious resurgence. This season was great (Odegaard was phenomenal, and Saka is just amazing on the ball), so I'm hoping the title will be within reach within the next year or couple of years. Saka is my favorite current player, though I'll always remember Wilshere and Ramsey in their prime (when they weren't injured). They were so fun to watch.
