Speaking as a fan of the first 3 movies, Resurrections is just awful. Plot is meh at best, character dialog sounds more like a parody and doesn't have the gravitas of the previous movies. Some of the returning characters are in such a weird position story-wise it feels like they were just treated as throwaway side characters. Once you watch it, you'll know exactly who I am talking about.
Action is poorly designed and choreographed. There's no iconic setpiece on the level of the lobby scene, the dojo, the chateau, or even the battle for Zion.
Overall, it feels like a reboot or remake by someone who doesn't understand what made the old movies great, which is strange considering how the Wachowski's were still at the helm. Basically, Resurrections is "The Hobbit" of the Matrix triology. You're excited for it because it's done by the same people, you're starving for more of that world, but it ultimately falls short.
Only one Wachowski was involved.
